My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mountain Cur Mix. Otis is a small guy, but his voice is even bigger. And just look at that face! How could anyone resist? Otis is a very sweet boy who has been and can be misunderstood at times. He had a rough past the first year of his life but ever since he was rescued, he has improved so much and has learned to trust humans again. He loves to have his belly scratched and could spend hours getting them. He enjoys walks and hanging out with his favorite people and furry friends. Otis does not like cats, well we actually mean hates but that is such a strong word. Otis is currently in a foster home and has been for a few months. During his foster care, he has been seen and evaluated by our veterinarian for some back pain and hip pain. Otis has been diagnosed with Legg- Calve- Perthes syndrome which is a disease in small and medium dogs that can cause lameness, joint pain, reduced range of morion, and as well as a Hemi Vertebrae where the discs in his spine are deteriorating and abnormal. Otis still has a lot of life left in him and is doing great with his foster family where he is co-existing with a female dog and children but is still available for adoptionIf you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is made up of two parts. Upon a decision to adopt an animal we require an application for adoption that asks questions such as housing and veterinary references. We then check references and may require a home visit. Upon approval you will fill out a contract for adoption and pay the adoption fees. Adoption fees are based on age and vetting required.
