Here's what the humans have to say about me:
(*Please note although Gigi is located in Bakersfield we are able to drive her to her new home and do a homecheck if you are in Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, Eastern Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County as well as going to Paso Robles. Otherwise potential adopters would need to come to Bakersfield. ALL potential adopters are required to be available for a zoom call. We do not meet at halfway points in parks or parking lots.)
Meet Gigi!!
If you are looking for a lovely little girl with big button eyes and a super loving demeanor then Gigi is your gal! Gigi and her brother George (also available for adoption) are 14 week old Poodle/Yorkie and possibly Maltese mixes that have beautiful shiny coats that are non-shedding. Gigi currently weighs about 5 pounds and is expected to be about 10-12 pounds full grown
Gigi came from a home that had the Mom who, as they told us, wound up having a litter with the neighbor dog before they could get her spayed. Her appointment is now set for the middle of January. The pups were well taken care of and were with children as well. She decided to let them go when they had finished receiving their full series of vaccines and were ready to be away from Mom.
Gigi is very playful but she is also very very loving. She loves toys but she also likes being held and cuddling in bed. She is in a private foster home with 3 German Shepherds, small dogs and cats and did not bat an eye when she met the Shepherds and is very kind to the cats. She would do best in a home preferably with another dog. As she and her brother have a very good relationship they also could be adopted together.
Her adoption fee includes:
1. Full series of vaccines
2. Spay (at 6 months of age per the terms of our contract)
3. Deworming
4. Microchip
5. Harness and leash
6. Starter food
Her adoption fee is $550.
As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
6. Dog breed experience
7. Have you ever had to give up a pet
8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Gigi socialized with other dogs
Some notes to consider before applying for Gigi:
1.. Gigi is a 14 week old puppy Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a young dog. She is working on housebreaking but will need to continue that training.
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER.
3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process.
5. We do not make appointments for people to just come "see" the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
