Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lucy is ready for her forever home!
Spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and flea/tick treatments done!
We originally rescued her at 8 weeks old after she was dumped on the hwy New Year's Eve. She was returned to us twice through NO fault of her own. We are looking for the absolute PERFECT family for her.
One such family we've had for another foster is our example: newly retired couple with another dog they treat like their kid, taking them places with them. She's had a very unstable puppyhood. She needs pet parents that will treat her like she is their furbaby. She is velcro! She wants to be next to her humans at all times. Not a backyard dog. She's one that will go wherever you are.
Definitely German Shepherd! Possibly mixed with Australian Shepherd and/or Husky. She's about 42 lbs as of mid-June, so she's a medium-sized dog. As you can see from the photos, she LOVES water and will seek it out! She's VERY vocal! She whines, howls, barks, always has something to say, like a Husky. That said, the more confident she's become with us, the more relaxed are her vocal expressions.
Good with children, but we want her to be the "child" with the majority of the attention in her new home, so we don't want a family with kids. She is excellent with other dogs, both male and female. One photo is showing her playing with one of our females. We want her new family to have a boy at home to help ensure a harmonious relationship.
Good with cats! She has plenty of rough and tumble doggy playtime currently, so she doesn't try to play with the cats, which was a problem in previous homes.
She needs a confident pet parent, so that she can be confident. Consistent, calm, strong leadership style is a MUST. Family should include outings and regular socialization. Again, not a backyard dog. She needs to be part of the family. Our example family who adopted a Great Pyrenees rescue regularly took the dogs to the park, to the beach, etc, wherever!
She is housetrained and kennel trained, both indoor and outdoor. She has jumped a 4 foot fence to be next to us. When left alone, she is kept indoors and/or in her outdoor kennel.
She is good around horses. She is also fine with our chickens when SUPERVISED. We would never leave any of our dogs alone with the chickens as they would be a great source of playtime for the dogs that would end up bad for the birds...She just wants to play with everything, so she needs an appropriate outlet: another CANINE youngster!
If you have questions, please reach out. We will hold onto her as long as needed to find her the perfect family. We would keep her in a heartbeat if we didn't already have a full house! She is the sweetest little girl, and we love her so much! <3
