Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi everyone! I am Luke, I’m a long-haired, dark gray Weimaraner (I think I am full-blooded blue weim but have not been tested). I was found at a Stop and Ride and spent only 2 days in a shelter before I was rescued by my first foster family. They had a lot of land that I was able to run free in, along with their other two dogs, a female Weim and a female doberman pincher. I really love to run around and play with other dogs (at least those two were a lot of fun). My current foster mom is going to take me to doggy daycare this week, I’ll have to let you know how that goes.
I don’t know my real age but the Veterinarian estimates me to be between 14-16 months old, so I am still puppy-ish. I’m up-to-date on all my vaccines, have been neutered, and will be chipped in the next few days (when I go to doggy daycare). I’m around 74 pounds and still growing. I am very strong, and have knocked my foster mom down by accident, I don’t realize I’m as big as I am! I’m mostly house trained, but if I’m left alone when my foster mom is at work, I will probably have an accident. When she’s home, I either go to the back door, or walk around in a circle. I know the words go out, sit, Luke, and I'm working on down and stay, although I have not mastered those. I will sit and give you my paw before you set my food bowl down.
IMy f.m. thinks I lived outside before I was rescued because I was timid when I went into the house for the first time, and sounds startled me. I’m getting used to being indoors, but I love to play outside. I get into my foster mom’s bed when we first go to bed, but then I jump down and sleep on the floor next to the bed, or go into the bathroom and lay on the floor because it’s cooler there. I do like to counter surf, and if anything is left out, I will get it and run around with it and play with it. I think it’s MINE and won’t let anyone take it from me. I’ve been know to snap or growl because I’m still learning to trust. If you offer me a treat, I’ll drop whatever it is and then you can pick it up and put it away. I’m working on my trust issues. I follow my foster mom everywhere. When she leaves to go to work, I try to block her from going by laying out by the back door. I love attention, but also will play by myself with toys, throwing them in the air then pouncing on them.
I don’t bark unless someone drives into my driveway or comes to my door. I have a big deep bark, I think it will keep my foster mom safe if I bark and get in front of her. I enjoy my fenced in yard, it’s 48” tall and I haven’t tried to jump it, but I may be able to because I am tall. I’ve walked on a lease and did okay, but I will need more training. I’m smart and can learn. I think I would like obedience training.
I would love a forever family and would make a great addition! I may not be ready for small children because I am so big and clumsy, I may knock them down accidentally. My foster mom is 5’3 and my paws come to her shoulders easily and I’m too strong for her. I’d like a place where I can run around so I can get the exercise I need (I’m high energy like most Weims). I would also like a family that can spend a lot of time with me. I’ve loved my foster families but I’m ready to find a forever home so I can get settled and become part of their family.
