Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bailey is a gorgeous, red bloodhound who is about a year old. He has a very loving personality. He loves to follow you around and cuddle. He enjoys walks and car rides. He gets along fine with other dogs and doesn't pay much attention to cats (at least not after ours scared him off...:) )
This poor, beautiful boy was left at home when his family moved away. The landlord found him and took him to the pound where he was rescued from.
Bailey does have some special needs and is looking for just the right family who is willing to work with him.
When we first got him and set his food bowl down for him he growled at us. We have been working with him on his food aggression and he is doing great. Using the commands "sit", "wait" and "take it", we are now able to feed Bailey, PICK UP his food bowl, put a YUMMY special treat in it and give it back to him with no event :)
Related to this issue seems to be an object guarding, possible conflict related aggression as well. If he steals something, we cannot always trade him something and get the object back b/c he'll growl at us. He also gets upset if we yell - even at the other dogs. It makes him nervous, upset and uncomfortable. Our own basset hound has conflict aggression which can be managed and improved with positive re-enforcement training using a clicker and gentle leader. There are also behaviorists that deal with this a lot that we could help you find :) Bailey absolutely will not go to a home that will use traditional choke collar style training.
An obediance class for Bailey is STRONGLY suggested. He already knows "sit", "down", "shake", "wait" and "take it".
Bailey is about 25-27 inches high at the shoulder and weighs in at a healthy 80 lbs.
