PLEASE scroll down and read the ENTIRE BIO. It is lengthy but has ALL INFO we know. Emailing and asking for more info is only going to hold up your process and risk your chances of the dog you want being gone. SHOTZI is in SALEM, Ohio. SHE is fully vetted including spay/microchip/rabies/Bordetella/parvo distemper vaccine/worming/heartworm lyme test/heartworm-flea prevent while at the shelter. We do not ship dogs, we do not transport dogs, we do not hold dogs. You must be ready to adopt within 72 hours upon approval.
FULLY VETTED ADOPTION FEE is: $200
** PLEASE NOTE: Since we are a shelter, the majority of our dogs have not had the luxury of a foster home. As a result, what we post in reference to their behavior, temperament, likes/dislikes etc is only what we witness here and not in a home atmosphere. ALSO, the breed mix posted is simply a GUESS on our part, we DO NOT do DNA testing.
**SHOTZI IS APPROX 1-2 YRS OLD AND CURRENTLY 60 LBS
Hey y'all, no DNA testing needed here, I can tell you that my lineage is that of a
GERMAN SHEPHERD!! Do NOT toss me into that "mixed" category...not that there is anything wrong with those with more colorful pasts but just look at me!! There's no mistaking me for anything other than the regal breed that I am. I will begin by telling you that I am a bit skittish when meeting folks for the first time, but it only takes a short time for me to trust that you are one of the "good guys" and then I am allllll about giving kisses, snuggling and playing fetch. Yup, I can play fetch for HOURS if I have a willing partner. I am still learning my leash manners, but it was quickly discovered that I do much better with an Easy Walk Harness. I have already learned how to "sit" on command, and I am beyond thrilled to be able to learn many more commands and tricks. As you know, us German Shepherd breeds are very, very smart and learn quickly. Due to my intelligence and personality, I will need a confident owner, one that understands my breed. I will outwit and rule over a wimpy dog owner if leadership is not established from the moment I am in my new home. If I do not have a strong leader who challenges me mentally and physically, I may be apt to "entertain" myself in destructive ways. Other dogs?? Well, in my 2 yrs of life I was never introduced to other canines...crazy huh?? There are some that I Love to play with and others, not so much!! So, if you have another dog(s), a slow introduction would be mandatory. Kids? Love them too, BUT no young ones as I may be a bit too much for those smaller tots, but older respectful kids are fine. I had not been exposed to vehicles before now and as a result I am a bit nervous when taking car rides. However, with time I'm certain I will learn how to enjoy nice Sunday rides with my new family! I am proud to say that I keep my kennel extremely clean so if I'm not housebroken, it is believed that I am very close to it. Consistency with potty training is key! To recap: I am initially shy, love (older) kids, love dogs, need a confident owner, love kisses, LOVE LOVE LOVE to play fetch!! There is so much more to me that I have not had the opportunity to reveal and can hardly wait to bust outta here and "show off"!! You better hurry and complete that application but be patient because my girl who processes the applications will be verrrry busy shuffling through all of them.
