This pretty lady is Sheila, a 1.5-year-old Shiba Inu who weighs 27.4 pounds. Sheila was released from a breeder, and although she is super-sweet, everything is new and scary for her. She's slowly making progress with her foster parents and will need an adopter dedicated to giving her the time and space she needs to get acclimated. She needs a secure, fenced yard and supervision with yard time because she would be a flight risk. A home with children age 12 and older would be best for Sheila because she is skittish and quick movements make her nervous. She does best if you are sitting or laying down.
Sheila seems to eat best when no one is watching her. She is making progress, and taking treats from her foster parents now. Once Sheila is comfortable, she'll likely be a playful friend and an excellent cuddle buddy. Sheila is a chewer and loves to have a good bone or toy to chew on. She also loves running around the yard with her dog friends. She's has started seeking out love and attention from her foster parents. Every morning she comes to the side of their bed to give them kisses and she'll stand there for pets for as long as you are willing to give them.
Sheila is crate-trained and is quiet while crated. She knows "kennel." As far as her foster parents can tell, Sheila is potty trained. When she first arrived at her foster home, she would dig at the carpet when left alone. They crate her during the day to prevent her from digging, but report that she hasn't done any carpet digging for a while now. At night, she sleeps in her foster parents' bedroom on a blanket.
Are you looking for a sweet dog who will be your loyal companion? Sheila is looking for a forever family who will give her time to become acclimated. She'll reward your efforts with unconditional love.
Her minimum adoption fee is $325 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.
She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
