Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
KIRBY is a bouncy, happy, vocal, loud 8 month old puppy. He is house broken as long as you pay attention to his door signal. He is crate trained for short amount of times and LOVES car rides! He's good with kids and dogs. He needs some help with manners as he doesn't know to give others their personal space. He doesn't welcome other dogs bossing him, so needs to be with submissive dogs. He can't wait to show the neighbors his newest finds from the yard. Simple things like pinecones and sticks are jewels to him!
Kirby is a very good bed sleeper. Very still and doesn't get up during the night. If you're interested in giving Kirby a home for Christmas, complete the application.

Their adoption process
Additional adoption info
Our Adoption Process... ***PLEASE READ IF APPLYING FOR A RESCUE PET***
1.) All potential adopters will be required to fill out an Adoption Application. We work hard at placing all of our rescued animals in the best suitable home possible. We want to ensure the absolute best fit to ensure these sweet babies will be adopted to their forever home and will never have to worry about being homeless again.
**Please be sure that YOU call your vet reference before submitting an application back to us
2.) All of our rescue animals are fully vetted as well as spayed and neutered at the time of adoption unless there is a medical reason or they are too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, in which a spay/neuter contract will have to be signed. We would like our potential adopters to understand the severe pet overpopulation that is present in our state and want all pet owners to be responsible in spaying and neutering their pets. Therefore, it is our policy not to adopt to families that have unaltered pets. Our hearts ache for all the homeless animals including litters of puppies and kittens that get killed in these shelters every day, many by being gassed to death. We try to save the owner surrendered animals because they are the first to be killed, usually on the same day they are surrendered. Unfortunately we cannot save them all and there are only a very few lucky ones to make it out alive.
3.) In general, we do require a fence for dogs unless there are special circumstances such as the dog being older, more laid back, couch potato, etc. There may be other special circumstances as well such as having a dog park next door or wanting a running or hiking partner. Please understand that most dogs have a lot of energy and need enough exercise to release that energy. We also want the dog to have a safe place to play in which a fenced yard is most appropriate.
Please note: Our dogs are NOT located at a shelter. They are in foster homes throughout Albemarle and surrounding areas.
**You must be willing to drive to the dog’s foster home in order to adopt it.****
BEFORE you can meet any of our dogs(besides at our Monthly Adoption Events), you must be approved to adopt. This means you must fill out and submit an application. A vet check or a reference check is then completed and if that goes well a home visit may be requested. The entire process takes 3-7 days normally, depending on your location. If we do not have anyone in your area to do your home visit we will ask you to reach out to local vets offices, shelters, and rescues to get this done.
Please do not apply to adopt a dog if you are not prepared to welcome it into your home within two weeks of applying. We do not hold dogs and we adopt them out on a first come first served basis based on a completed and approved application process.
Fees:
~~The adoption fee for spay/neutered/chipped/vaccinated dog is $200 - cats $125 (we need to cover vetting expenses, so we can continue to save other pets in need)

More about this rescue
**PLEASE NOTE** We are NOT the Stanly County Humane Society. Although we do the same thing. Many folks get us confused. We are made up of volunteers are are 100% foster based. We don't have a shelter.
Founded in June 2012, Friends of Stanly County Animals (FSCA) is a licensed 501c3 non-profit organization. We are a foster based rescue operated by dedicated volunteers who go over and above to save dogs who would otherwise be killed at the local heart stick shelter located in Albemarle, NC.
We provide foster homes, vet care, rehabilitation, and quality forever homes for dogs in need. FSCA does not operate a shelter. We rely on fosters who open up their homes to care for dogs coming directly from animal control. We also intervene to keep other pets from going to animal control.
Simply put, we are big animal lovers just trying to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. They are so many. We are constantly told we can't save them all, but we will continue to save as many as we can "one by one". Our motto is "everyone can do something" and working together we are making a difference in the lives of many.
