Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there! My name is Tyke, and I’m a 3-year-old, 65-pound pittie mix looking for my forever home! With the softest white fur and the cutest black and tan patch around my left eye, it’s bound to be love at first sight. And if looks aren’t enough, you’re sure to fall for my winning personality! I’m friendly and loyal, and I get along well with other dogs. I even like cats!
I’m neutered, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I’m also house-trained and leash-trained, although I do best with a harness to help with pulling. I can’t help it - I’m a strong boy, and walks are just so exciting! I do not do well in crates and can chew myself out. Maybe you can help me with crate training?
I’m very energetic and would make an excellent running/biking/hiking partner. However, I’m not a fan of car rides! I get nervous and my foster mom says I bark too much in the car. I would do better if crated for car rides and if there are other dogs traveling with us!
I do have a few quirks you should know about. I will need a patient adopter who is willing to work with me through some anxiety. When I get nervous, I sometimes chew things I shouldn’t. Small children also make me nervous, so I’d do best in an adult-only home. I have some allergies, so I eat a special prescription diet that helps a lot.
I’m located in Pennington Gap, VA but can be transported for that special someone/family. If you’re interested in adopting me, please fill out an application today! You must be 21 or older to adopt me.

More about this rescue
Our Mission
Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
