My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

KOVU

This is Kovu. This sweet soul is a German Shepherd/Husky mix and is looking for a very special home in the Dallas/Houston Metro areas.  Kovu is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, housebroken and crate trained

Backstory: Kovu and his puppies were a severe abuse case. The owners had locked them up in a house for months without food or water. Kovu’s wife was a husky and a husky rescue took her and we took Kovu and puppies. The puppies have since found their forever homes. Kovu, however, needed more help with human socialization. He has come a long way with his foster.

He LOVES other dogs and has gotten along with every foster that has come into the house.  Kovu is excellent with puppies, but he has no cat experience. Kovu also has no kid experience. So a home with "older dog" savvy kids, or no kids, would be best.  Kovu likes to play tag with his person, once he’s comfortable with you. He does like giving kisses and he is treat motivated!  This handsome boy is looking to be a member of a pack,  His foster feels Kovu would do great with a pack of friendly dogs who can continue showing Kovu that not all people are bad.  Kovu has made incredible progress at his foster home and does ok on a leash now but he tries to avoid others while out for walks.  Kovu has a bark but really only uses it when it’s dinner time or when he gets to go outside and is excited!

Here's the "very special home" part. Kovu is not a social butterfly as far as humans go. His foster can pet him, but Kovu gets no enjoyment from it. Kovu is not a snuggle dog and it could be years, or possibly never, that he reaches the point of wanting that much physical attention. Kovu is looking for a special someone that will love him for who he is.

Kovu is not for everyone, but we are certain his match is out there!

More about this rescue

Sauver Des Chiens German Shepherd Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501(c)3 organization based in Texas. At this time we service Texas and Louisiana. Our passion and our mission is to rescue neglected, unwanted, and abused German Shepherd and Large Paw Dogs with the goal of finding them a new permanent and loving home. All dogs receive full veterinary care, including spay/neuter, positive training and necessary behavior modification before they are ready to adopt. These dogs come from stressful circumstances and are give a few weeks to de-compress before being offered for adoption. We do this for the love of animals. #bethatsomeone #foster #volunteer #adopt #theirlivesmatter
