Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Did you recently lose track of your shadow? Don't worry, Tova's got you covered! Tova is estimated to be 1.5 years old and weighs 38 lbs. She will never be far from her people and is happy to curl up with her fur sister in quiet times or when Mom's out. She sometimes wishes her senior sister would play a little more often, but she's happy to do some zooms and go for a neighborhood walk to take in all the sniffs!
Tova is very social and will do best in a home with another friendly dog who is her size or smaller. She loves to chase and fetch, but does not do well with rough/extremely vocal play (she gets very nervous and shuts down in these situations). When introduced to new dogs, she can sometimes take a minute to be sure she's safe and these new playmates are friendly, but when she warms up, she's ready to run! She's never shown any signs of aggression towards any dogs she's met and has been friendly with all people big and small - her enthusiasm needs some supervision with smaller kids as she's still learning about her size relative to theirs. She can be a little mouthy when she would like some pets or play time, but takes correction well. We are working on keeping four on the floor when greeting people, it's just so exciting when people come say hello!! She has watched her fur sister closely for cues and has learned so much!
Tova did not do well being crated, but has done well left out of the crate at home. Having another pup around to show her the ropes in her forever home would be ideal. She's a quiet girl who is curious when her fur sister barks, but just observes and never joins. She may bark for a few minutes when left alone without her fur sister, but otherwise, she is quiet as can be! Tova loves her toys of all kinds and will gladly play with you or entertain herself tossing, chasing and chewing until it's time to tip over for a nap. She's a goofy, fun-loving pup who snuggles like a champ and will do best with a family that will allow her to cuddle up on the couch/bed. She been in an apartment environment in her foster home and she's adjusted well, but would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can get in some proper zooms. However, she can do well in either as long as she has access to good walks/runs.
Tova is a special girl in so many ways. She was surrendered to the shelter after having seizures (we're not sure how long they'd been going on before she was surrendered). This means she will need a family that can support her medication schedule and make sure she takes it every 12 hours and continue to monitor for changes. While she will likely need to be on medication for the rest of her life, neither the medication nor the seizures will stop this girl from living her best life. This poor girl also came to the shelter heartworm positive but has completed her treatment, tested negative and has been cleared by her vet! She is so ready to take walks, hikes, explorations and more backyard zooms!
Tova is truly a goofy, quirky, pure sweetheart with so much love to give to her forever family. She's eager to learn and doing great - so far we've learned sit, shake, lay down, belly and stay - and have mastered potty training as well! Sometimes we get a little too excited for listening and have to take a minute to get out some energy or refocus, but she's come so far and continues to learn every day. She is very treat motivated and takes them very gently. Tova also loves her chew toys and chew treats! At the end of the day, she just wants a lap to snuggle, a gentle fur sibling (or two) to chase and a family to love on and to love on her.
Tova's New Year's wish is to find her very special furever family! Tova is spayed and UTD on all vaccinations. She is available for transport to the right family. If Tova seems like a great fit for your family, please fill out the application.
