My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In Gainsville - This one-year old, male red-tri mini aussie (about 35 pounds) is ready to play and find his forever home! Fitz is full of energy and curiosity. He is looking for a home ready to play hard and give lots of cuddles. He may look all grown up, but is still a puppy at heart and always ready to cause mischief (imagine a toddler who can open drawers and is tall enough to reach the counter). He’s still in a chewing phase so needs continued guidance and patience.

Fitz would benefit from obedience training. Group classes are a little too exciting and overwhelming for him, so either someone with training experience and/or private sessions would be better options and highly recommended. While he has not been aggressive towards either humans or other animals, he is reactive (barks, growls, lunges) to other dogs while walking in the neighborhood or when approaching the dog park. He’s great and plays well once they get to meet and sniff each other out so will slow introductions. Due to his energy, he will need someone with Aussie puppy experience, he is not for the first timer!

Fitz gets along with and plays quite rambunctiously with his foster dog sister (7 yo female mini aussie) and is very curious of but not aggressive towards his foster cat brother. While he loves to play, chase and wrestle with other dogs, he is calmer, quieter and snuggly when he is on his own. He would be fine as an only dog if also given the opportunity for dog park outings or puppy play dates. Because he has so much energy, older kids are required.

Fitz is up to date on his vaccines, neutered, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and microchipped.

If you are ready to welcome a fun-loving sweetheart into your life, Fitz may be the one!
Fitz is being fostered in Gainesville, Fla.
