My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jasmine LOVES all humans including children if all ages.

Jasmine first came to us in 2015 as an 6-month-old puppy. I
was volunteering at a shelter evaluating dogs for other rescues to pull. When Jasmine instantly caught my attention. She was sad and depressed and her eyes showed that she had given up. She wasn't even on my list to evaluate. I had decided right away I was taking Jasmine with me and literally had to peel her off the concrete floor.
Jasmine has been adopted or had a trial adoptions 9 different times. Each time she was returned through no fault of her own. Once she was attacked by the other dog in the home, and other times she was victim to breed stereotyping and returned due to HOA demanding or pressure from the family to give up a “vicious dog”. Other times it was due to unforeseen medical issues arising in her family (not Jasmine’s health, but within the family that adopted her) and she was returned because they could no longer care for or focus on her properly. This time, after 4 years, she is returning to no fault of her own. It’s no surprise the past 2 years have been brutal for many and sadly Jasmine’s mom hit hard times and lost it all. Even while homeless bouncing from motel to motel and couch surfing with friends and family. Trying to keep her family intact.
This affected Jasmine as she's a creature of habit. She has done everything she can to keep Jasmine, but the inconsistency of a home is taking its toll on not only Jasmine’s mom but Jasmine as well. It wasn’t an easy decision, but ultimately it was determined best for Jasmine that she return to AHS.
Jasmine is heartbroken and needs time to decompress. She sadly also has a few health issues we need to get straightened out, including the fact she is heartworm positive.
Jasmine is an amazing dog who loves children. She is a vocal girl who will tell you what she is thinking and has a sound for each of her thoughts. She is only 8 years old.
Keeping her is not possible or fair as her emotional need is prominent. She is good with cats and dogs but lately, she's been struggling. She loves children and all humans immediately. You can feel the love from the moment you meet her. We won't give up on her. Please give her a chance. You won't be disappointed.

We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

We are a volunteer-based rescue, meaning every person involved is doing their best. We are a foster-based all-volunteer program. We are not a government shelter facility nor are we open to the public. Our adoption process can take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail it in to the time that we reach out to you. If you are window shopping we are not the rescue for you. We are seeking committed adopters.

More about this rescue

Every animal in our care comes to us with their own story. Many of them have had it harder than others, and have scars that need a healing touch. What they all have in common, is that they came to us from other rescues/shelters that felt they couldn’t take on their individual needs, and give them the necessary care needed to help them bloom into family pets. Most pets we welcome into our program, need extensive behavior and/or medical care before they are ready for their forever homes. We provide each pet with an unlimited amount of time to recover, along with individualized care and training customized to there needs.

We at Animal House Sanctuary love a challenge and have a soft spot for these special pets in need. Most of all, we love seeing each individual pet change into the family pet they were always meant to be. Watching this firsthand, is beyond rewarding and fills us with a joy that cannot be described in words.

We are a 501(c) Licensed Nonprofit organization that is ran 100% by Volunteers. Our mission is to help homeless animals find great forever homes. Our heart is with the community, helping families keep their pets at home. We are involved with informing our local community about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. We also help feed the homeless and their pets. Senior pets are precious and dear to our hearts which is why we are involved with the Hospice Heaven program. This consists of pulling older cats and dogs from high kill shelters and placing them in a loving home. This often includes matching senior pets with a Senior Adaptor. Sharing joy and respect for all precious life is something that we love doing, and will continue to do, for it fills our hearts.
