Meet Ricki! This handsome 20-something cockatoo is on the lookout for his forever home. While he’s missing a few toes on his left foot, that doesn’t slow him down—he’s a skilled climber and gets around just fine with a few accommodations, like flat and rope perches. He also prefers stepping onto an arm rather than a hand for extra stability.
Ricki takes his time warming up to new people and likes to set the pace of interactions. Because of this, his ideal caregiver will have experience reading large-bird body language and will use positive reinforcement to help him feel secure.
This chatty guy loves to show off his vocabulary, often declaring, “Ricki needs a cracky!” (and who could argue with that?) or greeting you with a cheerful, “Hi Ricki boo-boo!” He’s also not shy about voicing his displeasure if his favorite person dares to leave the room!
Due to his impressive vocal abilities, Ricki isn’t suited for a home with shared walls. His future family should have experience with large birds—preferably cockatoos—to ensure he gets the care and understanding he needs.
Ricki is available for adoption to Missouri residents only. If you’re ready to welcome a big personality into your life, Ricki just might be the perfect match! Adoption Fee: $300
