Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Luigi is a beautiful 2 year old German Shepherd mix who may have been a lonely, curious puppy as he was found wandering the streets twice before we rescued him. Now, Luigi has spent over a year of his short life at Home Fur Good and he really wants to go home. But taking on an under-socialized puppy requires patience and time and work and he has not met his forever family just yet. Luigi knows to sit when asked, but he does not understand the leash and that has been his main struggle when meeting new people. Unless Luigi knows and trusts you, he is not letting you come anywhere near his neck with any sort of leash or harness. He still exhibits signs of fear with new people and things, sometimes crouching timidly, or offering a mild sneer. But once he DOES know you and trust you, he is a goofball who just wants to play fetch and hear you laugh. He calms down for pets and enjoys chewing a toy by your side. He wants to please and we have learned that time and familiarity are going to be integral to Luigi's success. His ideal family (whether it's a single person, a couple, or a group) will benefit from meeting Luigi a few times at the shelter until he feels confident enough to go home. Luigi does not like sitting still and would thrive with walks and hikes and an active lifestyle. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment.

Home Fur Good has trained adoption counselors to review and question any potential problems/issues with application. We do require an adoption fee which ranges for dogs $150-$300 and for cats $50-$100. All cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and vet checked.
If another dog or dogs are present in the household we require a meet and greet prior to adoption. All members of the household must be on board with adoption. We do not adopt our rescues out without meeting person that will be responsible - no "gift" adoptions. We contract that if cat/dog must be relinquished they are returned to us. If there is a change of ownership we must be kept informed who responsible party is. Fees are non refundable.

More about this rescue
Home Fur Good is a non profit no kill animal shelter located in the NE Valley. We take a majority of our cats and dogs from County, many who have treatable medical conditions and would otherwise be put down. We assess physical and behavior and work with the cats/dogs to find the best suitable match. It is our goal that each cat or dog that comes to our shelter ultimately be placed in their "furever" homes.
We also operate a low cost vaccine and microchip clinic each Sunday. We want to help community be able to care for and keep their animals safe. We do not charge vet fee only fee for vaccine and microchip. Additionally we have a low cost dental clinic each Wednesday. Check our website for more details.
