My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic

Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home.

Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. Stryker gets very excited when meeting new dogs. Stryker has a girlfriend - Van. They love to run around and play hard. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs, however, he has the potential to live with other active dogs. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix.

Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd.

If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application.

Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots

Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is:

Ages under 3 years old: $450

Ages 3 to 8: $250

Ages 8 and older $150 (or waived)

For dogs older than 10 or with medical issues we will waive the adoption fee. This is done on a case by case situation.

We do not adopt puppies. If you are interested in adopting a dog under 4 years old there are a number of respectable German Shepherd Rescues in the New Jersey metropolitan area that can accommodate you, including Shepherd's Hope Rescue and Garden State German Shepherd Rescue.

More about this rescue

Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary specializes in helping adult and senior German Shepherds and mixes find their forever home. Sadly, many older dogs are dumped in shelters and most often are the first to be euthanized to create room for younger, supposedly more adoptable dogs.

Our mission is to find loving homes who realize the special nature, love and enjoyment these dogs can bring to a household.

We work with owners who because of circumstances beyond their control need to find a home for their dog. We also work with many shelters and rescue organizations in the Northeast.
