Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Marshall is being fostered in NC.
Marshall had enucleation (eye removal) surgery on August 7th due to uncontrollable glaucoma. His stitches have been removed and he's doing well. The surgery alleviated his pain to where he's back to his carefree, happy go lucky self, wagging that tail all around the house, nonstop! :) He continues to be a joy and is patiently waiting to be adopted.
Hello, my name is Marshall! Let me tell you a little about me. I was found as a stray, but BDRA saved me from being put down by the shelter. My vet thinks I'm about 8-9 years old but I'm still in great health aside from being blind. Even though I'm blind I learn very quickly. I could map your house in no time.
I'm a little shy at first, but once I know you aren't going to hurt me, I will warm right up. I'm almost completely house-trained. I get scared and anxious when my humans leave the house because it can be scary being blind. I feel much safer when you put me in my crate when you have to leave or during the night.
I sure hope my forever home has fur brothers or sisters. I LOVE my foster dog brothers and follow them everywhere. They are much smaller than me (10 lbs), so I make sure I'm extra gentle with them. I even have a foster handicapped kitty sister. I am fascinated by her and like to follow her as well. I make sure I'm gentle with her too. One time I even let her steal a few bites from my bowl while I was eating my dinner. My tail wags fast when I'm around her or my doggy foster brothers because they make me so happy.
I'm still trying to figure out furniture so I prefer to stay on the ground instead of getting on the couch or in bed. I love having a memory foam dog bed. I take lots of naps, but I love going on walks. My humans taught me the word "careful" to warn me if I'm about to run into something. I'm still learning to "sit." The vet really likes me. She and the other staff tell me what a sweet and calm boy I am.
I'm excited to meet my forever family and fur brothers or sisters. I sure hope you pick me. I'll make you happy with my sweet and calm personality. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Update 3/23/23
Marshall is a wonderful dog! Recently we took him to a playgroup that required a 4-hour evaluation with a trainer. I was so excited when they said he was so well-behaved and adaptable with all of the other animals that he was marked as "green," meaning he gets a "free pass" to be part of any playgroup he wants (large dog, small dog, hyper dog, calm dogs, senior dogs). They said had I not informed them he was blind that they would never have guessed it with how well he navigates spaces and his attentiveness to the other animals. Also, our neighbor names Marshall their "manny" due to how gentle and patient he is when he visits.
When it comes to people, Marshall is a shy boy at first, but once he settles in, he is so gentle and loving. When it comes to other animals, Marshall warms up instantly! He's tested with cats and dogs of all sizes and does well with all of them. He currently lives with 2 small dogs and a handicapped kitty (that adores him). He doesn't bark, which is nice. This is key to note because my current dogs are barkers, and he does not pick up on their bad behavior. Very rarely will he give a howl or two, but if he howls, then there is definitely a reason because of how rarely he has done it. It's kinda cute actually.
He does not get up on the furniture (i think it makes him uncomfortable), but he loves to be by your side. I call him my "happy boy" because he literally walks around the house wagging his tail all day. He never lets anything phase him. If you want a sweet companion (and an added bonus that works well with cats and dogs), then he is your guy! Check out his video, you'll see what I mean!
