Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Amara! This beautiful mini - Aussie is so ready for her permanent home. At 3 yrs. old, she's been passed around family members with no one having the time to train, exercise and socialize her like she deserves. She is a very sweet girl with tons of potential but has special needs and requires a specific environment. Before reading on, please note that the following is required to be considered a qualified applicant for Amara:
- Extensive experience with insecure dogs; experience with herding breeds a plus
- Confident, patient human leader
- Calm, confident “helper dog” in the home to serve as a role model
- Calm, consistent environment
- Adults only in the home
- Fenced-in yard
- Willingness to use a crate, Amara’s “safe place”
Amara thrives in an environment offering the above. Without a confident leader interested in training however, as an insecure pup she will exhibit guarding and obsessive behavior. She needs slow, proper introductions to new people (particularly men) and dogs to gain trust. Once realizing she can relax, Amara is a fun, affectionate pup that loves to play and lay at the top of the couch over your head while watching TV. A medium-sized girl, once settled in she gets her zoomies outside, then prefers to hang indoors.
Amara is going to make a great companion for a lucky person or couple with a calm, stable, consistent environment and no children. Like most herding breeds, she'll thrive with a job to do, even if you make up "chores" along the way. Structure, a confident pack leader, consistent physical and mental stimulation and commitment is what this little girl needs to thrive.
Love the breed, meet the requirements above and think you can give Amara the life she deserves? Don't call - submit your no-obligation adoption application on our website at: www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com and an Adoption Coach will call you! Don’t delay. Amara is waiting for her perfect person and forever home.
