Scarlett is a 2-year-old, 31-lb red heeler mix who loves to cuddle up next to you on the couch as much as she enjoys going outside to run and play. Scarlett loves the outdoors and really enjoys her walks and getting out to see the new things. She can be shy at first and might cower a little but with patience she will gain more confidence. Scarlett is fully house trained, great with kids and is respectful of cats to a certain extent (may chase a playful, running kitten). Scarlett is slowly learning boundaries with jumping and rough-housing. She is responding to clicker training and is treat motivated. She loves playing with plush toys as well as balls. Scarlett is crate trained and enjoys her snuffle mat for distraction. She may bark if left alone too long. Since Scarlett is a herding dog breed, she needs plenty of exercise and mental stimulation; she is not a dog who should be left alone all day with nothing to do. Scarlett was found as a stray and is heartworm positive but is on a slow-kill protocol and will test negative in no time. This doesn't affect her routine. While a stray, she sadly had to fend for her food, so she can be somewhat food possessive with another dog, so if there is another dog in the home she should be fed separately in her crate at meal time. She is currently in a home with other fur siblings (dogs and cats) and does well being fed in her crate and with a slow-feed bowl. Scarlett has tons of love to give and is waiting for her forever home.
