Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pippie (F) is a 6yo Husky. She is currently living with her foster parents all by herself so she gets all of the attention! Pippie was adopted from us in 2018 and lived happily with a little human sibling, but due to no fault of her own she is back in rescue looking for a new home.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
- needs proper introductions with dogs - Pippie can make dog friends, but prefers calmly coexisting to new dogs jumping up in her face
- no cats
- good with kids
- good on leash with the transitional (does pull initially but takes corrections well)
- previously reactive on leash but now mostly whines at dogs or novel stimulus but refocuses with correction, needs her future people to continue working with her to maintain her excellent behaviour in care
- knows crate, place, sit, down
- incredible in the house with structure
- fantastic on place (stays on the bed settled for more than an hour, despite humans eating, doors opening, etc)
- loves to sniff outside
- loves people and affection!! Would love to have tummy rubs all day long
- likes training
- grooming/ regular brushing will be important as she has lots of fur and sheds!
- working on developing a food drive
- Pippie came into care over weight so we will be working on managing her food intake to get her to a healthy weight
- medium/ low energy, calm
- good in crate, whined initially on day one and when you first leave her but responds well to correction
- working on coexisting with other balanced dogs
- best traits: rock solid place command, calm in the house, loves affection!!
- needs work: building food drive, getting to a health weight, leash skills
- quirk: her run looks like a cute little trot and she prances around, and she tries to lift her leg to pee like a male dog
- first backyard instinct: sniff everything!
Pippie is a very sweet girl. She is house trained and working at her crate training every day. She is a little bit anxious in her crate and is working o using her indoor voice when she's all alone ;). She has lived with children and is great with them -- however, she is a little too interested in cats to have one as a sibling!
Pippie does get along with other dogs but requires proper introductions, as does any dog. She has gone out on a pac walk with her foster mom and she got along well with everyone both in the car and on the trail but isn't allowed to tell a dog when they're being annoying! She also has a tendency to go through any open doors and is working on being a bit more patient when waiting to go outside.
Pippie LOVES the snow and LOVES her walks. She could walk all day if you'd let her! That being said, she is generally lazy and calm inside and will just find a spot to curl up and nap in the corner.
Here is what her foster mom has to say about her:
"Pippie is a fantastic dog. She is extremely loving and gentle and loves nothing more than to snuggle up on your lap and give you a hug. She would be a great running partner for an active human that's looking for someone to go on adventures with. Pippie is good with other dogs, but I think she would also love to have your attention all to herself. I can't wait to see where this sweet girl ends up calling home!
