Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet as ice cream with a cherry 🍒(Cheri) on top❤️
We may never know where Cheri came from… we may never know her past …. But we know she’s resilient… forgiving …. And OH SO LOVING!
Cheri is a super sweet and absolutely beautiful brindle girl.
We do not understand why no one has adopted this sweet girl, or rescued her! She has now been at the shelter for two months!!!! 😩
The only reason why she has been able to stay at the shelter this long is because we have been able to get other dogs out and save space for her… BUT THE SHELTER IS FULL AGAIN SO THIS PLACES CHERI IN DANGER 😩💔💔💔
She is friendly, energetic and absolutely beautiful… She is also a very young girl!!!
She needs out of the shelter!! The shelter is full😩
She has enjoyed visiting the other dogs at their kennel gates and REALLY loves everyone she meets. She is a smaller yet sturdy girl. She sits so pretty for treats. She has that fun puppy-type energy and would love an active family.
Cheri is estimated to be maybe only between between one and two years old.
She was brought in as a stray and we think perhaps she was allowed to roam the countryside prior to being brought into the shelter. She was very scared to be closed up in a kennel in the beginning and still has a hard time adjusting to that sometimes. Rightfully so! …….could you imagine being closed up in a kennel for 60 days?💔💔💔. She hasn’t touched the grass since she’s been there😢. There are no fenced in grassy areas for the dogs at the shelter.
Cheri thought roaming the countryside and interacting with whomever and whatever she wanted to was divine! Now she can’t do that.
She can’t go love on you when she wants to ….. she can’t go play with a dog that’s outside her kennel ……so she gets frustrated… barks and is begging to get out !!
This only happens when you first come up to her gate. Her over abundance of excitement to be with you gets the best of her and she might bark out of frustration. Some people term this as “barrier” issues or barrier frustration.
Barrier issues are simply when certain barriers, in this case her kennel, prevents a dog from interacting with their environment in the way the dog desires. She wants out and to be with you or with a dog that’s in the play area. This is very common for a dog that has been allowed to roam free. All dogs, and especially those that have lived a life free, need physical, mental and social interactions with people and/or other dogs.
She doesn’t react to dogs coming up to her kennel and doesn’t react when she is in the play area and approaches the other dogs’ kennel gates.
The second her kennel door opens she’s that friendly, sweet and loving Cheri 💜
She’s absolutely beautiful 💜
Our shelter has remained full almost all summer… We have not been able to get her a vet appointment yet but are hoping to be able to do that soon… So she has not had an exam, updated on vaccines yet or a heartworm test, or spayed.
She has received her rabies vaccine.
If adopted she will have to be spayed prior to adoption (or appt set and confirmed for new family to take her to her appt.)
WE LOVE OUR BEAUTIFUL CHERI!
This young sweet girl deserves a loving and dedicated family to teach her all about love, trust and great care….. she deserves a fenced yard so she can frolic and play safely.
PLEASE DO NOT LET THOSE KENNEL BARS BE THE LAST THING SHE SEES 😩😩😩
Please consider contacting us to set an appointment to meet her. You will fall in love with her like we did!! 💜
