Update 10/27/22: Calvin and Austin are a bonded pair and must be adopted together :-)
Hi everyone! Calvin (Blonde) and Austin (Black) here. Boy, do we feel better! When our foster mom picked us up, we were a big mess, especially Austin. She says that poor Austin was in the second worst shape she's ever seen of all the dogs she picked up, ever. Austin's fur was so bad that you couldn't even see him! She was so surprised that there was such a tiny little dog inside all of that mess! And all those mats pulled on his skin so bad that he had open sores all over his body. His nails had grown under his feet, and were all infected, and so he couldn't hardly walk, but the nice vet worked on him, and an hour and a half later, all that nasty stuff was gone. Austin was so patient, but it didn't look fun. The pile of hair was so big when she was done, you could have made three more dogs! Whoever adopts up is going to want to keep his fur cut real short. His ears were both very clogged and infected and his eyes were also infected. Foster mom says that Austin was just one big infection. I wasn't in the best shape, either, but at least someone had trimmed me, so I only had a couple of things wrong with my skin, probably just from being dirty. Since my bath, I haven't had any other problems with my skin, and neither has Austin since they trimmed him and he had his bath. I did have a very bad infection in my anal glands that hurt real bad, but the vet took care of that and I'm feeling so much better now. We've both just finished our antibiotics and our foster mom says we are healing up nicely. We agreed that we both feel great and we love hanging out with her, and her three dogs. There is even a cat, and we like the cat, too. Actually, we just like everybody except large dogs who bark. We don't have any problem sharing a food bowl, or a water bowl with other dogs, and we are learning to use a pee pad, and we just love to love on anyone that will have us, especially me. Foster mom says I'm the snuggliest dog ever. I also pose for pictures. I watch your every move because I just want to be the bestest boy you've ever met, and if you whip out a phone, I know what to do. Also, if you call us, we come. Foster mom says we're just the nicest, bestest, sweetest boys ever. Did I mention that we are both potty trained? I guess some dogs aren't. We are used to being kenneled, but we prefer not to be and we would just love to sleep in your bed with you and sit on your lap while you watch TV. We also love to run around, but Austin has to be careful around stairs because he doesn't see that well. We are also getting these things called dentals next week. The vet isn't sure how many teeth we will have left because she says they are pretty bad, but I'm not worried about it. Dogs with no teeth do well, and we can even eat kibble, no problem. I'm excited about my mouth feeling better.
