We don't know how Ruby ended up lost, alone and seriously underweight. What we do know is that now that she is safe and sound with us, she is enjoying good food, soft dog beds and the company of other dogs. Ruby seems to have lived in a home before since she is house trained, crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. She has even learned how to use a doggie door since being with us.
Gaining weight is so much more fun than losing it, right? Ruby is enjoying some extra meals and treats and will soon have the needed weight back on. She should probably weigh around 50 pounds. She is approximately 18 months old, and would prefer a home with another dog for company, and an active lifestyle that includes daily walks. We don't know how she feels about cats or children, but she does well with other dogs and loves all people. If you're looking for a truly awesome dog, Ruby is the one for you.
Ruby has an adoption fee of $350 that helps the rescue cover medical costs. Ruby is spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped. To meet Ruby or maybe just learn a bit more about her please fill out an application* at https://helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/ .
* Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up
