Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hunter is looking for his furever family. He is currently being lovingly fostered in the Metro Vancouver area.
From his foster family: Hunter is the most handsome, sweetest boy who is very brave, intelligent and somehow always smiling ? At first, he is very cautious and likes everyone to respect his boundaries – he will do the same for you! But once he opens up, he is so loving, funny, and loyal. He loves apples and peanut butter, but loves his liver snaps and chews even more!
He loves dogs of all sizes as long as they greet him calmly (no barking/lunging). He loves sniffing everything on his walks, but also loves lounging next to you at home. He has worked through so many of his fears in the short time I’ve had him, I’m confident that, with continued patience and showing him that he is safe with his people, he will continue to grow even more confident in any environment.
Hunter seems to be afraid of young children, so child-free or households with older kids who understand how to approach dogs calmly are better. He is good off leash in large, fenced areas, but would avoid taking to dog parks where some dogs are not properly trained.
He barks when neighbors slam doors or talk loudly in the hallway, but other than that he never barks. He’s good on leash walking but will sometimes be stubborn about where to go. He listens better when given more freedom on the lead. Because of his prey drive, he will try to chase squirrels, and cats but he’s been working on redirection training.
Hunter is housetrained. No separation anxiety, but he gets sad and has not been left alone for longer than 4-5 hours at a time. Currently, his foster works from home so Hunter rarely has days where he is alone – and he seems to like it that way.
