My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxy and Charlie are looking for a quiet retirement home. You see, they lived happily with their elderly mom and dad....until one day, their parents couldn't take care of themselves anymore and had to go to assisted living. The girls were nearly surrendered for euthanasia, but a neighbor stepped in and facilitated getting them into rescue instead.
Roxy is the gold and red 13 year old chihuahua mix (maybe with terrier?), and Charlie is the 16 year old black mini schnauzer. They both weigh in at about 15 pounds. They are pretty low key dogs who don't need much in the way of activity. If you slap a leash on them, they'll walk around on it, but they're content with a soft warm bed at home too. They don't make a whole lot of noise and sleep quietly in their kennels at night.
Roxy adores people food and will beg for and try to steal it whenever possible. Unfortunately she can't have it, as she is on a gastrointestinal diet and takes an inexpensive medication twice daily to help her digestion. She will approach you for pets, and when picked up, will kiss your face.
Charlie likes to be cradled in your arms, tummy up, like a baby. She paces a lot, which is a sign of canine dementia, but she is much happier unmedicated. She eats her kibble well, can find the water bowl easily, and loves getting treats and smelling stuff outside. She will settle down if you put her in her kennel with the door open or pet her on the couch. She does take a heart medication twice a day that also isn't expensive.
Both girls will take time to adjust. Although they don't appear to meet the definition of bonded, we intend to make a serious effort at adopting them together before we even consider splitting them up. They lived together in the same home for years, and lost everything overnight, except for each other. Charlie in particular seems to perk up when she knows Roxy is around.
These are two very sweet girls who need out of their noisy and busy foster home and into someplace quieter and more slow paced. The adoption fee for the pair is $400, and they are fixed as well as current on shots and heartworm prevention. They both had dentals roughly three months ago.
