Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Oakley OH (but sometimes my foster mommy calls me Wiggle Worm). I guess it’s because I don’t sit still for very long. Or maybe it’s because I’m a happy boy and my wiggle butt goes really fast all of the time.
I was found and turned into a place with lots of barking dogs. I think they call it a shelter. The nice ladies at the shelter asked if ASF could please take me and find me a family that would love me furever. So I've been staying with my foster mom for a little while now and she says it’s time for me to find my furever home.
So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am about 5 months old (but nobody knows exactly when my birthday is) and I weigh about 17 pounds. My foster mom thinks I am a mini and won’t be overly large when I grow up. I am pretty darn cute as you can see by my pictures.
I LOVE to play, it’s my favorite thing in the whole wide world to do. I LOVE to play with toys. I LOVE to play with my foster fur siblings! I love to run and wrestle with them. And I love to play bitey-face with them. I really want a fur brother or sister that will run with me, and wrestle with me, and to play bitey-face with me.
Foster mom is trying to teach me to go potty outside. I’m working really hard at that, but when I start playing, I still forget sometimes and go on the floor. And once in a while, but not very often, I have to go potty in the middle of the night. I whine when I have to so my foster mom knows I have to. She lets me out and when I’m done, I go right back into my kennel and go back to sleep. My new family will have to be patient with me until I get the hang of this potty thing.
I’m really a pretty good boy, but sometimes I don’t want to listen and do what my foster mommy tells me to do. When I’m acting that way, my foster mom tells me I am being strong-willed and stubborn. I prefer to think of myself as confident. She says my new family will have to give me guidelines and boundaries so that I grow up to be a wonderful member of the family. For example, I really like to jump up on my foster mom because I’m so excited to see her. Oh yeah, and I like to jump on the couch, and on the back of the couch, and on the chair, and jump off of them. She keeps telling me “off” when I do that. And sometimes I get really wound up and do zoomies all over the yard and house. Foster mom lets me run out my energy for a while and will then say it’s time to settle down. (This is when I sometimes do that not-listening thing.)
I have had some of my vaccines and will be UTD when I go to my new home, but I will need the rest of my age appropriate vaccines to keep me healthy. I have been microchipped alreadyto be done.
If you think I am the puppy you’ve been waiting for, and you can promise to love me furever, please fill out an application at AustralianShepherdsFurever.org/adoption-application.
All adoption fees are used to help other furbabies like me.
Some notes from Oakley’s foster mom:
Oakley is everything an Aussie puppy should be: playful, smart, inquisitive, and adorable.
He is a VERY confident puppy, he has no problem trying anything new (whether it’s good for him or not) and approaching any other dog without reservations.
Oakley will need an experienced Aussie owner to keep him safe, and give him the strong leadership he needs to blossom into a wonderful pup he will become..
This boy loves to run and play ball, and at this point does not always have the best recall, so a fenced yard would definitely be best for him.
Oakley has not been around children, and based on his rambunctious personality, it’s expected that he would LOVE to have a young human or two (+10yo) of his own. Because of his tendency to jump up he would not be a good fit for younger children.
Oakley is a very sweet boy, but he has LOTS of energy that needs to have a positive outlet.
Oakley is being fostered in Jackson, OH.
