Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Gizmo!
Gizmo is a hermit crab who came to us in May 2022. Almost all hermit crabs are wild caught so it is impossible to say for certain how old Gizmo might be. It should be noted that he has since moved out of the painted shell he is pictured in and into a crab-safe shell. For those who may not know, painted shells are toxic to hermit crabs.
Gizmo loves, loves, loves to burrow in his substrate (we use play sand with eco earth mixed in). At night he tends to be quite active.
Hermit crabs at Small Pet Safe House are quarantined for a minimum of 30 days to be certain they are healthy and can eat and molt on their own without issue. Gizmo has molted once during that time and had no difficulty. He is quite a picky eater however, as many crabs can be. The list of hermit crab-safe foods offered is quite long so we won't post it here however we will be more than happy to share it with any potential adopters.
Adopters should be aware that, if properly cared for, hermit crabs can grow to the size of a tennis ball and live 30 years or more. The oldest known hermit crab in captivity had lived with its owner for over 50 years.
