Oct 15, 2022: When I saw Lucky's pictures on one of Mark's email blasts of the Lawrenceville shelter urgent dogs, I campaigned hard to get him into IBR's program. I knew he would benefit from the tick borne disease screening as we see a lot of demodex mange in dogs infected with Rocky Mountain spotted fever. That disease was confirmed and our treatment plan of oral antibiotics doxycycline and amoxicillin plus medicated chlorhexidine shampoos and Advocate topical has really helped Lucky's hair grow back in less than a month and his energy level has increased exponentially.
Mark had started him on Nexgard so that was helpful to start killing the mites- but getting Lucky on the oral meds helped his overall health. He was so feverish upon arrival and his skin was hot to the touch.
Best guess is Lucky has some beagle and some German Shepherd in his mix. He is under 2 years old and weighs about 36lbs but should weigh closer to 42-45. He has the SWEETEST temperament and is so great with other dogs and he even loves kittens. I want him to have a home in the Chicago area with other nice dog buddies and kitties would be nice too. He is a sensitive dog and needs a little confidence building as he can be a little shy.
A fenced in yard is a requirement of adoption for Lucky.
