Meet Jojo!

Since arriving at our house a few short months ago Jojo has brought us joy, fun and a lot of extra activity! If you are looking for a sweet, active Husky pup who will keep you on your toes and keep you company on the couch Jojo is your girl!

Jojo is around 18 months old and came to us after a long stay in a shelter. She loves being in a house and being with her family. Jojo is a sweet dog who loves to cuddle on the couch or in bed. She loves to stay close to her humans and adapted quickly to life in our home. She is house trained and adapts quickly to changes in her routine and schedule. She also loves to ride in the car (though if she is not secured expect to find her crawling to front seat to sit on someone's lap!). She stays in her crate during the day happily when we are away from home. At home she enjoys a mix of activity and relaxation. She often brings a toy over to us or drops a ball down the stairs to let us know she is looking for some amusement and delights in playing fetch. She has amassed quite a collection of toys and loves to chew and snuggle with them. She hasn't shown any possessiveness or resource guarding around toys or food, even with another dog in the house.

Jojo LOVES her walks! She does well walking with a gentle leader and is learning good leash etiquette. She does have a strong prey drive so her family will have to be mindful of squirrels, birds and other things moving in the neighbourhood. She should also not be in a home with small animals like rodents or cats. She also loves other dogs! Jojo is working on meeting dogs patiently and calmly as sometimes her excitement and enthusiasm take over. She plays well with other dogs who share her high energy style. Although Jojo loves others dogs we think she would do best in a home where she was the only dog or was with a dog with a similar temperament. Her high energy could pose a challenge for older or smaller dogs who don't like to play the same way she does. She could do well in a home with another young, active and playful male dog, but as a confident female dog she would not like to share her home with another female dog. There is only room for one diva in the house!!

Jojo loves people- she is gentle and patient with kids and adults alike although she can get a little excited and would have to be supervised with young children who visit. Her forever home should have children over the age of 8yrs of age who are used to dogs and know not to be too excitable around the dog.

It is very important for Jojo's forever family to know that she is a bit of an escape artist as Husky’s are. She is incredibly fast and a very agile jumper so she needs a secure fenced yard with tall fencing (5ft plus) and supervision while outside. She can slip through an open door or gate in the blink of an eye so definitely needs a family who is aware of this and is another reason why a home with older children or adult only is required! Jojo is working on some basic commands like sit and stay and will love obedience training. She is a smart dog who needs activity and enrichment and would do best in a home that can provide both. We are looking for a home for her with people experienced with Husky’s and who know this breed very well. She is a beautiful dog but there is so much more to her than her looks. Her forever family needs to be very active and provide her with daily running exercise or long, fast paced walks. She will not be happy with casual strolls and needs her people to keep up with her need for outdoor activity and exercise. She is also a dog that will truly come to life in the winter and is bred for a lot of outdoor exercise in the cold…so people willing to be out in the cold multiple times a day for play time and walks/runs are required! Jojo is such a joyful and fun dog and we are so excited for her to find a perfect forever home!
