My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you believe in second chances? Of course you do, or you wouldn’t be here! I do too – and that’s why I’m here! I’m Brandy and I’m here for my second chance!

I’m only 2 but I’ve had quite an adventure getting here to my foster family. There are a lot of angels in my second-chance story, including the family that found me, limping and lost. I’d been hit by a car and my hip and leg were broken. They took me to the vet – angel #2 in this story! The vet found my family but they couldn’t take care of me and, instead of giving up on me, that vet called around until he found Lab Rescue! And now I’m with angels #3, my foster family! They are taking care of me, making sure I get all the attention and treats, and some pretty incredible salmon-flavored food! Ooo La La, I am living the life! I have a surgery for my hip and leg scheduled soon, but I’m not nervous at all! I love the vet and I know there will be people to take care of me while I heal. Tell you the truth, I’m a little excited about that part – ok, ok, I love to play and go for walks so healing might be hard, but I can’t wait to feel better and I love the idea of having people around me while I do! The vet said I’ll need someone home with me while I recover but since I love being with people even more than I love that salmon-food, I think this will make up for missing my walks! The vet also said I need someone to lift me when I first get home and that makes me smile – can you imagine how cute I’ll look being carried around like a baby? You think I’m adorable now, just wait!

I’m making a list of things I love, so I have stuff to do while I’m healing. I love bubble baths! Yes, bubble baths - don’t skimp on the bubbles either! I love stuffed toys and will take them to bed, or to my crate, to snuggle. If I don’t have a toy nearby, I’ll bring your shoes over to snuggle with them. Oh, and I love snuggling with people! I just love people and smile whenever I see them. I come running, tail a’wagging, when I hear my name! I will beg for pets – could you resist this face? I do not want to be left out of family activities and I’m so well-behaved you can take my anywhere! Want to go dine outside? I’d love to – just make sure they have a dog treat on the menu! And I’m easy to take places because I am learning to love car rides (I’ve learned to stay out of the road unless I’m IN the car!) and when people pull up next to me, my tail wags nonstop! I think we should do this when I can’t go out on my walks! I love playing with other dogs and I’m always trying to snuggle the cat (I’m going to win her over one day!). I love joining in zoom meetings while you work from home! I just sit there, smiling, and don’t interrupt – I should be the employee of the month! Anything else? Oh, I love food, but I’m a Lab, so maybe you knew that. I’m great at learning new tricks and adapting to new things though! All I need is a treat and a “Good girl!”

Everyone says my smile is irresistible and the way my body shakes with joy just makes me the cutest! But I think my best feature is my eyes! I’m cross-eyed – I was born this way and it doesn’t affect my vision, but it does make me extra cute! Do I use my cross-eyed puppy-dog-eyes to get extra treats? Wouldn’t you?

Like I said, I’ve had lots of angels in my life recently, but I’m looking for the most important angel of all – someone to adopt me! I promise to bring you smiles, and your shoes, give you snuggles, and let you know how much I love you! And if you’re ever feeling down, just look into my crossed-eyes and think, “I should give this good girl a treat”.
