Twister is such a fun sweet little nugget. True to his name, he spins when he’s excited! On the leash he can pull a bit strong but he is super handler focused and treat motivated, so you can use a kissy sound and treat tosses during the first 30 seconds of the walk to keep him calmly moving in the right direction.
In the play yard he is game for anything: when alone he tosses toys for himself and performs respectful zoomies. When other pups are around, he rolls over to initiate play. He has bravely and confidently tried the agility equipment, and may be ready for the 2024 Olympic Games.
After all the running and twisting, he will have quite an appetite. When it’s time to eat he prefers to have his own space away from other dogs, but who can blame him? He needs all the fuel to keep that puppy energy twisting. With a full belly he will show you the most amazing sploot and will rollover for belly rubs. This tiny but mighty boy is ready for a home!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
