Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Candy, a female 13 week old medium Goldendoodle puppy, who is in an IDOG foster home in Robesonia, PA near Reading, Pennsylvania.
*Please read ALL the information in her listing before applying to ensure you understand what we feel she needs to be successful in her new home. If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Candy, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser). If you completed an adoption application in the last 3 months & would like for your application to be considered for Candy, please email us to rescue@idogrescue.com.
*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application won’t be considered. We will review your application & email you within 2-3 weeks if you made our short list of applicants for Candy. You can check the status of her adoption at www.doodles.petfinder.com or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.
*Please check your emails regularly & also your junk/spam folder. If we email you that you made our short list of applicants for Candy, we expect a response within 24 hours.
*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs - your understanding is appreciated.
*We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for - we do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.
*You must be approved to adopt Candy before we will schedule a meet & greet with her. We do not transport our dogs. We expect approved adopters to visit her in her foster home within a short period of time of being approved to adopt her. Our adoption process involves vet & personal reference checks, phone interviews, a home visit, an adoption contract & an adoption fee.
*AGE: 3 months (born July 2022)
*WEIGHT: 15 lbs. as a puppy so far; we expect she will be a medium adult Goldendoodle maybe in the 35-50lb. range
*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is required. No electronic/invisible fences or shock collars will be allowed. She would love a fenced backyard to run and play and be a young puppy!
*COAT TYPE: She has a straight moderate-shedding coat. Her coat may change as her adult coat is coming in now and she is losing her puppy coat. She will need regular brushing (which she loves) and grooming every 8-12 weeks (approximately $100/groom).
*ENERGY LEVEL: High puppy energy. She will need daily exercise in the form of walks, running in backyard, fetch, playing with other dogs.
*DOGS: Candy is great with the dogs in his foster home! She would love another young dog in her new home.
*CATS: Good.
*KIDS: Candy has been around children and enjoys their company. She is a puppy and will jump while playing. She may do best in a home with children who understand dogs will jump and nip. With direction and continued training this should subside.
*CAR: She has had limited experience in the car but is getting more comfortable every ride.
*CRATE: She is excellent in the crate with her littermate; she sleeps in it overnight and goes in for shorter periods of time during the day when her foster family is not home. She may need some transition time when she goes to her new home as she will be separated from her littermate for the first time.
*HOUSE TRAINED: yes!
*LEASH: Limited leash experience. Her adopter should be willing to work with her on getting accustomed to leashes/walking.
*VET: She does well at the vet and wants to meet everyone!
*GROOMING: She has never been groomed professionally but did sit well in her foster home for nail trimming and face trimming!
Sweet Candy-PA is a 3 month old female medium Goldendoodle puppy who was surrendered to IDOG when her breeder was unable to sell her litter.
Here is what her foster family has to say about her:
Candy is sweet, curious, energetic and loves snuggles!! She has already learned her name and simple commands such as sit and wait. She loves to nap with and on other dogs. She is fully crate trained including sleeping through the night. Candy plays well with her foster mom’s two pups and cat. She also loves to play with the family’s 3 children. She enjoys zooming through the yard and chewing on Nylabones and also leaves.
Candy is fully house trained. She will go to the door when she needs to go potty. She does spend lots of time exploring outdoors. She enjoys bath time and especially the snuggles in the towel after. She does like the company of other dogs and also snuggles!!
Candy is happy lying beside his foster mom and human siblings as well as with other pups. She has zero food aggression with children and other pets. She has learned simple commands such as sit and wait and will come when her name is called. We are also working on leash walking which is a work in progress. Candy is patient for nail trimming and ear trimming and is a tail wagging wiggle butt! She will do anything for a treat!
We are looking for her new family to have dog experience with someone home during the day so she is provided with human interaction while continuing to work on house & obedience training and socialization.
Adjectives that describe Candy:
*Snuggly
*Affectionate
*Playful
*Friendly
*Active
Activities that Candy enjoys:
+cuddling
+chewing on bones
+running
+hanging around her people
+squeaky toys
+being brushed
+loves playing with other dogs
Things we are working on with Candy:
-Leash/harness walking. She does well with the other foster’s dogs and solo. It’s a work in progress.
The ideal type of home for Candy would be:
-where there is a work-from-home person, or someone who is home a lot of the day
-with another playful dog
-children 7+ due to her size, jumping up and nipping do occur
-fenced yard
-where she gets his daily exercise
Due to the intense needs of puppies, we will require adopters to be experienced dog owners with someone home during the day so she is provided with human interaction while continuing to work on obedience training and socialization. Because she is young, it is not possible to determine what temperament she will have as an adult. Also, we are unsure of the final coat type she will have so only adopters that can tolerate a shedding coat will be considered. As she matures, her natural disposition and coat type will emerge. Candy will require training and to be spayed by 9 months of age – these expenses will be covered by the adoptive family.
Candy has seen our vet and is current on age-appropriate vaccines (DAPP, Bordetella and Rabies), dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. She is microchipped. She will 2 more DAPP boosters. She is too young to spay so IDOG will hold a $200 spay deposit. The adopter will be required to spay her by 9 months of age. You will need to send the vet receipt to IDOG and we will then refund the deposit. If you fail to get her spayed by 9 months of age per the adoption contract terms, you will be required to return her back to IDOG Rescue.
ADOPTION FEE: $650 adoption fee + $200 refundable spay deposit to be refunded upon proof of spay
ADOPTION FEES:
Under 6 months: $650 and up
6 months - 2 years: $450 and up
2 years - 4 years: $350 and up
4 years+: $250 and up
Special Needs fee/donation assessed on individual basis
Puppies have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses.
