Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Kizer- A one year old red-tricolor Australian Shepherd. Kizer is a lover! He is super sweet and would become a velcro dog to his new owner/owners! He has a great personality, mostly calm when indoors (he is still a puppy) but very active and playful outdoors. He rides awesome in a crate in the car and is housebroken. He is crate trained and eats all his meals in his crate but prefers not to be crated. He will whine and bark a bit but does eventually settle down. When Kizer is happy, he can barely walk straight from all his wiggling. He will also smile and show you his pearly whites. He will often greet you with a ball or toy in his mouth.
Kizer is good with dogs his size or smaller. Larger dogs intimidate him and sometimes causes him to react negatively (barking and lunging). Slow introductions will be needed. We have been told he is also good with dog savvy cats. Kizer walks great on leash when not distracted. He can be somewhat reactive on leash when he sees a person or a person walking a dog (depending on the distance). We have been working on Kizer’s socialization/behaviors on leash. He has been making progress but new owners will need to be patient and continue working with him. Kizer is timid when meeting new people- never aggressive, just avoids new people and may bark or growl under his breath. Patience and lots of cookies will often do the trick. For this reason-and the fact that he is a herding dog- we would recommend a home without small children. He is an anxious little guy and likes to be with his person. Being able to go to work with you would help build his confidence meeting new people. Kizer also knows a few commands like sit, go crate and down. He is very food motivated and eager to learn.
A home with prior aussie or herding dog experience is recommended. He has a great personality- but will need a confident leader and boundaries. Kizer is UTD on vaccines, neutered, microchipped and on HW prevention.
Kizer is such a sweet boy and has so much potential, he just needs a loving, patient, and consistent owner to shine. He is definitely worth the effort.
