Zeus is a really nice boy that has been raised in a loving family but unfortunately is now needing to find a new home. He is a very handsome, well mannered dog that loves everyone. He is friendly, fun-loving, affectionate and an all around great family pet.
Zeus is an extraordinarily loyal, loving and peaceful dog. He stays close and near on long forest walks and enjoys your company in a very non-demanding way (being close, rarely begs) He has a truly gentle demeanor and is exceptional with children. He is a big boy who weighs approximately 90 lbs and is approximately 4 – 5 years old.
Zeus’ family originally provided a home for Zeus on a temporary basis as a foster family but decided to keep him when a new home wasn’t found after some time (he came to us while we lived in Sudbury from a shelter there). They have loved him for 3 years and have struggled to come to terms with finding him a new home. Their circumstances have changed and they are moving to a new location in which they cannot have pets. “We are a small family with two young children (ages 2 and 10 months—Zeus was at both of their births!)and we live on a very low income at the moment as students. It hasn’t been easy to a find suitable home with Zeus and although we have done well up to this point, we have struggled to find a home that suits our family as well as Zeus. We think he would be happier with more space (we have lived in one-bedroom apartments with him, although we walk him on the trails daily) or at least a more functional use of space (fenced yard, country property ect) and we just are not at that point yet to provide that.”
Zeus is a friendly, quiet and well mannered dog. He loves to roll around in the snow in winter, loves fetching sticks and swimming in the lake, and would do well with a family that enjoyed the outdoors. He knows his basic commands and is an obedient and responsive companion. He is fine with other dogs but has not been socialized with cats so we are unsure how he would deal with cats in the home. When we go for walks he always barks at the squirrels and cats and although dogs are different with cats that live in the home, we figure Zeus would probably want to chase them at least until he learned to accept them as part of the family.
Zeus is excellent off leash but needs some further on-leash training.
