My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Salty!

This adorably cute boy is a super sweet, approx 9 month old Border Collie, neutered, looking for a loving home. Salty wants to shower you with his affection and attention!

Salty was found as a stray by a couple hiking on on Ortigalita Peak outside of Los Baños in late Sept. They tried for a couple of weeks to find his owner but no luck.

A good Samaritan took him in (Pacific Grove), and has been house training, crate training, basic training, and socializing him.

He has been microchipped, is UTD, on flea/tick and HW prevention and ready for the great home this wonderful pup deserves!

He’s been evaluated by two canine local behaviorists/trainers and both give him high marks for his very sweet and stable nature.

Salty is super loving! He craves belly rubs and cuddles. He gives sweet doggie kisses and bonds quickly. Will be a wonderful couch snuggler!

Salty is great with people and dogs. He loves to play with other dogs and loves his toys and chews, though he’s not a resource guarder. He can get a wee bit overstimulated, as a still adolescent boy, if given the opportunity to chase running dogs. He does great being chased! In any event he is very responsive to interruption and with ongoing play and socialization he’s doing great!

Hasn't been tested on cats, but would bet he’d be trainable to be polite with them.

Since Salty is a puppy/adolescent Border Collie, he will do best in an active household with space to play, preferably a secure yard, as well as mental enrichment. Salty has shown he has an off switch and knows how to calm down and nap a few hours during the day and will sleep well in a crate.

He’s not yet experienced with fetch or frisbee but I’d bet he’d be great at those sports. Will make a nice running companion, and a great agility dog!

Salty would love a border collie experienced owner who can continue his positive training and give him his best life! Apply today! Salty needs a foster or a home ASAP!
