Martin and his sibling, Jennie came into rescue when their owners had to enter skilled nursing care. Martin is heart clear and just has some age-related arthritis. Martin was previously overweight and needs a home where his diet will be regulated to keep him at his ideal weight. Martin loves to love on his foster parents and enjoys laying in the sun in the fenced-in backyard and just hanging out. He loves going on walks as well!
$500 adoption fee is for both dogs.
This is from his Foster Mom:
Jennie and Martin came to me about 3 weeks ago after a long road trip from New York. They were a couple of tired, stiff, 11 1/2-year-old seniors who were not really sure where they were. Fast forward to today and they are running (as fast as an 11+ can run) barking and wagging their tails. Jennie wags hers like a helicopter!
They love their food ( Martin especially so and he will tell you) so a strict amount of food is in order as Martin had previously been very overweight. I give him extra bulk in the form of carrots, celery, and cooked kale. I am sure he would eat any vegetable you offered but I stick with these three. They both get a third of a cup of kibble at night and a small milk bone in the morning.
Jenny came with an ear infection but that seems to be healing nicely and all that will be required is some Epi-Otic cleaner once a week. She also has a bit of a dry eye and only needs OTC for dry eye once a day in her left eye. Martin has some arthritis and I have both him and Jennie on Omega 3 oil which goes in their food at night. Jenny is a bit deaf and Martin is selectively deaf!!! Both Jennie and Martin have CLEAR HEARTS🙂🙂🙂
They get along famously with other Cavaliers and even pay no attention to my cat. They like being on the lead and going for short walks and they do not dawdle. Apart from eating, their favorite thing is to sleep on the sofa. Jenny likes to be cuddled and would really prefer your lap.
There have been no accidents in the house and Martin is slowly getting used to the doggie door. Jennie will give a little whine when she wants to go out.
At night they sleep in the dog room with my other Cavaliers and have their own pen which they share and happily go in at night. They like their dog beds and a fluffy blanket which they enjoy scrunching up.
It has been a joy and honor to see these veterans come to life and I am sure they will adapt in their new home with as much ease as I have experienced here in my home.
