My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aubrey is a loving and affectionate Anatolian/German Shephard Mix. She's 70lbs, and 2yrs old. This intelligent girl knows multiple commands (sit, down, stay, wait, place, come), and is house trained and crate trained. She has stayed in her crate for up to 7hr during the day and has done well. Aubrey gets along well with other dogs- she will play for short periods then wants to hang on her own. She has wonderful leash manners, and is easy to take on walks. She is a high energy girl, so staying busy doing doggy puzzles, playing games, or working on her training is an important part of her day to day life! Aubrey would do well in a multi dog home with small introductions. Aubrey loves to go for car rides, and enjoys having a job! She would do well in a family that gives her direction, daily structure, and continued training. She's met older kids and has done well, probably no small kids due to her size. Aubrey does have a high prey drive and loves to chase squirrels, so no kitties for this girl. Barkville rescued Aubrey in January 2022 when she was emaciated and pregnant with 13 pups. Her pups were all adopted, now it's this girls turn to find her forever family! Her current foster Mom is a dog trainer and will provide her adopters with guidance on Aubrey's training, and discounts on future training for this special girl. As part of the adoption process for Aubrey, an adopter will be expected to have a two hour training with her foster mom. Aubrey is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. For more information about Aubrey, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.November 3, 2024, 9:25 pm

Additional adoption info

The dogs that we have available for adoption have come from shelters where they were found stray or were given up by their owners. These dogs have been let down by humans in the past and may be suffering from physical ailments or abuse. So, by the time these dogs come into our rescue group they have been thru a lot and need a home that can provide them with structure, guidance, love, patience and time to adjust to their new surroundings. Please understand that as dogs transition from shelter to foster home to forever home there can be set backs along the way and they will need your help to adjust.

All dogs that are adopted from BarkVille are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with all necessary veterinary care. However, owning a pet can be expensive and you must be prepared to provide quality food, monthly heartworm medication, monthly flea and tick medication, yearly shots and routine checkups. In addition, you must prepare for accidents and illnesses that may require expensive treatment or surgeries. Many times our dogs have ended up in shelters because their previous owners were not prepared for these expenses and we want to ensure this never happens to them again.

We strive to know and understand each of our dogs so that we can work to find the best match for each dog and adopter.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application, adoption interview, meet and greet, veterinary reference check, personal reference check and home visit prior to making the adoption final. We reserve the right to deny any application that we feel is not a good fit for any of our dogs for any reason. If you are ready to make a commitment to one of our dogs please complete the adoption application and submit for review. The adoption fees vary based on the age of the animal: Age 7 and up is $300, Between age 7 to 1 year is $350. Puppies under the age of 1 year is $400.

More about this rescue

BarkVille Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit. We envision a world where all dogs reside in responsible, loving homes.

Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. The dogs are then placed in foster homes while they await placement into their permanent home.

Our goal is to help dogs without regard to age, breed, size, or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.
