Loyal Lily is an energetic happy girl who is looking for a calm home to spend the rest of her days! We think she is a terrier-lab mix, she has a beautiful medium-length coat. She is only around 40-45 pounds and is house trained and knows sit plus a few other basic commands. Lily is shy and will need to be introduced to strangers (dog and human kind) slowly and carefully. Currently we have used a basket muzzle during introductions to new people and have found this to be very helpful. Lily is becoming more secure and has had several smooth introductions, but that skill will come only after she trusts her forever family.
Being a terrier mix, Lily has a high prey drive and would not do well in a home with cats, birds or small pocket pets. She seems to be the most comfortable with dogs smaller than she, but she could also do well as an only dog and certainly has plenty of love to share and fill your home with! Lily has been working on lowering her anxiety and increasing her comfort levels with positive reinforcement training, she is one smart cookie and loves to be praised! Loud noises, sudden movement and storms have triggered her anxiety in the past, she has done well over coming most fears but storms can still be frightening for her. Families with children may not be a good match for Lily at this time.
Lily's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and monthly preventatives, plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only. We look for applicants to have a demonstrated history of this as well as having kept current/former pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives.
