Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I was directed to Run 36 to check out a red Aussie male in our local shelter. But, there were TWO males found strayed together and were thought to be siblings. My initial impression was “Happy” and “Happier”, but they had been assigned the names Chuck and Sid. Can we do both? ASF said, “YES!!” That very afternoon, they gleefully jumped into my car for their freedom ride!!.
— Hold on to your hats boys — we’re gonna blow this popsicle stand!! --
Chuck, aka “Maverick” is full - on Aussie. He does indeed have the need for speed. I don’t know that I have ever seen a dog run so fast — like grrreazzzed lightning!! Maverick loves to explore and have his human close by. He loves the outdoors and has a different perspective on the ball toy. Maverick has an inquisitive nature, and it should be fun to watch him develop. Maverick would likely do very well in agility or fly-ball. I have observed him to herd, as well. He enjoys cuddling on the sofa and just absorbs the love. I can stand with my arms open wide and call his name – and he will dash into my arms for a “Big Maverick Hug” – nothing like it!! He has that Aussie bark, too, just sayin’.
Although Sid, aka Sidney, does not look like an Aussie — you can see some similarities in their coat color, their eyes, and facial markings, and white tail tips. I do believe they are siblings and while it would be great for them to stay together – it is not a must. Sidney is a toy-man and will carry one pretty much everywhere he goes… Kind of like a child with a doll. Sidney has a special joyful prancing dance as he plays with his toy named “BringIt. Syd is a morning person’s dog – he is charged and ready by 6:30 am – but if he didn’t have to sleep in a crate and not with me, he’d probably sleep in a little longer. He can also be laid back and enjoys the big chair to recline with a toy and be close to his human. He is absolutely adorable.
Both Maverick and Sydney are receptive to training and would do well with children. Going on 8 months, both relish long hugs and belly rubs and will provide you with an endless supply of sweet kisses. Both males are neutered, HW negative and are UTD on vaccines plus microchipped. There are free-roaming cats next door; however, I’m not observing a predatory drive from either — a little curious tho’! Now would be the time to teach them that cats are cool. I have no doubt that they’d individually or together would be great bed warmers – but that seat in this household is taken, you understand. Maybe I’m dreaming or maybe not – but if they were divided among family or close neighbors or friends – they could still enjoy play dates and celebrate birthdays together – Just thinking out loud here – it could happen! As long as they have an active, loving, and inclusive home – that’s really the most important thing.
Every morning as I open their crates — there is an immediate celebration of freedom, of life, and joy for a new day rain or shine. Just being with them brings a smile and a chuckle. I do believe their sole purpose in life is to make someone or family Happy and Happier!! Nothing but the best for these boys!!
