Lou!! So many good things to say about this cute little, pint-sized pittie boy. He has the sweetest, most innocent face, he is super cuddly and affectionate, and he is dog social. Lou is an excellent loose leash walker, though he can get super excited at the shelter and sometimes will bounce around you out of pure joy while walking. He is just so happy to have a kennel break!! Lou came to the shelter a little on the shyer side, but with the help of all of his volunteer friends, he has really opened up and shown us his spunky, fun personality.
Lou spent some time in a foster home around the holidays, and his foster reported back that he was excellent! He is house trained and sleeps well through the night. Lou loves nature walks and hikes, but most of all, his foster said that he loves snuggling and cuddling with his humans and he is super responsive to his people’s emotions. Lou did have a little more reactivity in a home environment, but it was totally manageable. He is extremely treat motivated as well, so most likely would pick up training in a pinch!
This guy has truly become a volunteer favorite! He is just sweetest dude who loves to rub his body against yours, almost cat-like. Speaking of cats, Lou has the potential to live with well-matched cats AND dogs! He just would require a meet and greet with any dog siblings. We love Lou so so much! He also comes with the full support of his best shelter friends, the Orange Dot Crew.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
