Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looking for a well-adjusted, easygoing, mellow kind of guy? Meet Charlie! This red and white furball is about as sweet and unflappable as they come...hard to believe, given his past. This wonderful boy's days were numbered after languishing in a southern Utah shelter for months. He arrived at the shelter from a rather unpleasant situation to begin with, spending his days outside neglected. In his former home, his only exercise was running the fence line, and he was in pretty poor health as well. X-rays revealed he's also been shot with a pellet gun in the past. Since arriving into WBCR, Charlie's health is
improving quickly and he should be ready for a forever home soon.
In spite of his less than stellar past, Charlie is a lover of everyone - kids, adults, cats, dogs, you name it, Charlie takes it all in stride. Although he's a little sound and motion sensitive like a lot of BCs, Charlie is quite a mellow BC who can certainly handle a bit of hustle and bustle around him. He's not a herdy boy, and although he's interested in meeting other dogs, it seems he's not very playful with them. He shows no interest in fetching or toys yet, either...instead, Charlie's top priority is being near his person and he takes this job very seriously!!
He loves to shadow his foster family around the house and will patiently lie at your feet and wait for his walk or run. This sweetheart would love nothing more than life in a home where he can be with his people all the time. He is on the lower energy side of things and certainly does not need an exorbitant quantity of daily exercise to be happy. He does love to romp about in the snow, and will even dive in and plow you a nice path with his head!
It should come as no surprise that Charlie had no training when he arrived in foster care, but he's proven to be a fast learner. He's already housetrained, walks nicely on a leash, and has learned a few of the basics. He will need an adopter willing to continue his education to help him be the perfect canine citizen he can be, but it shouldn't take him long to master a few more of the basics.
And oh - is he handsome?! Charlie is quite an eye-catching fellow, and everyone he meets comments on his good looks. He's classically marked and as his health improves, and with better nutrition, it won't be long before his gorgeous thick coat shines. And who can resist a smile like that??
All in all, Charlie is going to make the perfect companion for a family who are looking for a less intense, more mellow BC with a steady and easygoing temperament. If you are looking for a delightful little red shadow to be your sidekick for life, Charlie may be the guy for you!
Charlie is approx 4-5 years old, neutered and current on his vaccinations. He’s living in a loving foster home near Salt Lake City, UT.
