My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From his freckle-faced grin allllll the way down to the little white snip on the end of his feathery tail, this is one big boy - and every bit filled with jollyness and love! Meet Hoss!

Out of all things in life, Hoss's favorite is human companionship. This outgoing fella adores people, especially his family. When his foster parents are home he follows them everywhere, just to be near them. And although he's not a small boy - he sure thinks he is when it is time to snuggle!! He is indeed a cuddler at heart. His frequent attempts to to ‘sneaking’ into your lap are quite amusing - because of course at about 55 pounds, sneaking is near impossible, but apparently he didn’t get that memo!!!

This goofball gets along well with most other dogs, too. He really likes playing tug of war with his 30 lb BC foster sister and he wrestles with his foster brother every night. He can be pretty playful with toys, too, and recently has begun playing fetch with soft toys, balls, Frisbees and kongs. Hoss is a little herdy but can live peaceably with cats if they are dog-savvy. Hoss is physically athletic, spry and sometimes quite exuberant given he's still just a pup! Overall we think he'll shape up to be a moderate energy boy who will be happiest with a good walk through the neighborhood at least once a day and having doggy pals to horse around with a few times a week.

This year old boy came from a shelter in Utah, and we know nothing of his past. Hoss didn't have much in the way of skills when he arrived, but he's making up for lost time in his foster home! He is a quick and eager learner, especially when food is his reward.  He's almost completely housetrained, and used to sleeping, eating and spending time home alone in his crate. He's hard at work learning basic manners and what is OK to chew on. Hoss has still got quite a bit of youthful enthusiasm and can get really overwhelmed at all the wonderfulness of the world - cars, people, bikes, dogs behind fences - WOW!! He will need someone to not only expose him to more of these things, but who can guide him and show him how he should respond and not get quite so excited. With a little more time devoted to training, establishing boundaries and providing structure for him, Hoss wil surely shape up into a wonderful and well adjusted lad.

All in all, Hoss is a super nice boy who is looking for a forever home who will spend lots of time teaching, cuddling, and playing with him. If you love the big happy type with a snuggly soft side – this teddy bear of a dog would sure LOVE to meet you!

Hoss is fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Denver, CO.
