My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This boy, "River" is in need of a home with no fault of his own. He is a result of an elderly owner that could no longer care for him. We are trying to learn more about him. His former owner describes his temperament as "excellent". So far he is very friendly and sweet with his caregivers. He has had interaction with dogs his size and has been good so far. We will share more information as we learn more about him. We will add more photos and hopefully video as well. We are told he had lived inside and outside...so we are unsure about housetraining or crate training.

"River" does well with other females so far and has played in neutral territory with males and females and has been okay in that situation. He was not raised around children so it is best for him that he be in a home with adults. (He has been fine with older children but nervous around smaller children that were not monitored or made to leave him alone); He has been kept in a run/crate and does fine. He is a less happy in a crate as he has not had a very solid crate training background. He is acustomed to being kept indoors (belly band always recommended on males especially when bringing into a new situation) with a doggie door and fenced yard. Not an outside only dog. He has lived his life in a home with adult men and women and female dogs his size- no cats; He is leash trained and loves balls and squeaky toys the best. He enjoys sitting in your lap and being with his person, he loves to ride in the car and is very well mannered. His least favorite thing is fireworks...and if he is ever certain about a situation he relies on his human for comfort by coming and sitting down beside them. He has a very sweet temperament.
