Tripper was adopted as a puppy and was in a home for close to a year before he needed to be re-homed...so he came back to the Sanctuary. And boy is he having fun....evidently he spent most of his young life in a crate or in a back yard, hardly ever getting to experience the wonderfulness of life. This made him a bit nervous and worried about all the things that he had never been taught to relax around.
Here he is quite a character...exploring everything, including the pond, where he hasn't quite gone swimming, but he Loves to wade and skip around the edges. He has learned to walk on a leash, greet folks politely and is a pleasure to have around. I think he will do best in a home without small children, but older kids would be fun for him to play with. And someone that likes to walk or run with a doggie companion...and someone who will nuture his social skills. He dearly loves all the dogs here...large and small...and never argues with anyone. He has been on a raw diet, which he loves and is just a happy-go-lucky kinda guy.
Tripper has a Heart by his name because he does have some weakness in his hind quarters. For the first week that he was here, he could barely walk a mile, but every day he is getting stronger and developing muscle tone. I believe this was caused by not enough exercise when a pup...so he will need someone who will keep him working those muscles and gaining strength. I AM hoping that he starts swimming, which will also help him improve very fast...but in the meantime, the improvement that i see everyday, lets me know that he will be just fine.

We truly appreciate your consideration of a Rescue dog...they are the BEST you know.
Most adoptions are for a Free Will Donation...We want our dogs and kitties to go to as many good homes as possible and give and share all the LOVE that they came here for. A vet reference and contract is still required, stating that your pup would be spayed/neutered after maturity...and of course be returned here if, for Any reason, the pet needs to be re-homed. We commit to our dogs for Life~ We also do home visits whenever possible. There are some exceptions where there has been extensive Vet bills incurred. We trust that you will know in your Heart, what your new companion is worth to you and honor and trust all desicions that you make.
