Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mila (pronounced Meela like the actress Mila Kunis) is approximately 7 years old. This sleek black beauty is looking for a new forever home where she can have a fresh start away from her current cat brother. For her first six years, Mila was a beloved pet until her original owner had to move somewhere that he couldn’t take her. At that time his son stepped in and provided her a loving home. Unfortunately the son’s situation has now changed and he isn’t able to spend as much time with her as he (and she) would like. The situation is compounded because an older male cat recently moved into the home who does not want to share space with Mila. In order for Mila to have the home life she had become accustomed to, we were asked to help find a new family and home for her.
She is a playful cat who enjoys catnip, string toys, and absolutely goes crazy for a laser light. She prefers to sit next to someone rather than directly on a lap and likes to settle in on the back of a couch. A fun thing about her is that she seems to really enjoy rubbing on and laying near feet especially in bed. She can be an independent gal who will decide on her own terms when she wants to be alone and when she wants to hang out with her human family members.
Just like many cats, she does not appreciate being picked up and if someone tries to pick her up, it is likely that she may arch her back and hiss to let you know that isn’t the best idea. While she does enjoy being lightly petted, if she gets overstimulated, she will gently let you know with a playful nip that she has had enough. She should not be in a home with small children but a home with older children who understand cats need boundaries should be just fine.
She has never lived with dogs or other cats (besides her current cat sibling that doesn’t like her) so it’s difficult to know for sure how she would be but most likely she would prefer a home as an only pet since that’s the life that she has known for the majority of her life. She faithfully uses her scratching posts and her new family will definitely need those for her and she would appreciate a sturdy cat tree to look out windows at all the fun things to see outside. She must be an indoor only cat as she has been for her entire life.
Please don’t overlook this black beauty simply because of her color as so many people do. Even though she may have an independent streak, she is still a sweet and playful cat with a lot of great years ahead of her to share with a new family.
