Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Introducing COOPER
Cooper is a gorgeous 1 year old male possible Goldendoodle, definite Poodle mix! He is extremely friendly to humans of all ages, dog friendly and cat friendly. Cooper is UTD on vaccinations, pending 2 boosters, and heartworm negative.
Unfortunately, Cooper had quite a rough start in life. He was found as a stray by animal control, he was not microchipped and no one ever reclaimed him. When Cooper was found, not only was his fur matted nearly an inch thick but he was also extremely emaciated: weighing only 28 lbs upon his shelter intake. After he had his entire body shaved, he weighed only 26 lbs. Cooper has been gaining weight over the past few weeks and although he is stable at 40 lbs, he will definitely need to gain a few more to be truly healthy.
DUE TO HIS RECOVERY, COOPER WILL NEED TO BE ADOPTED LOCALLY AND THE ADOPTER WILL NEED TO MAINTAIN CONTACT AND PROVIDE UPDATES TO TMM.
Cooper does seem to have a very mild case of cage feet in his front two paws. He currently maintains a slow and leisurely walking pace. In the mornings, he does trot but we don't think he will ever be a dog that can accompany a runner. **It is important to restate that he is recovering from being emaciated and once fully recovered his energy level may change**
Cooper is still very much a puppy. He is learning how to play with toys, as well as how to interact with other dogs and humans. He is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be pet, but as puppies do, he sometimes tries to put arms and hands in his mouth - it's never in an aggressive way however. We think it's more of a curious and playful tendency but we are attempting to correct this behavior.
Cooper has learned his name and does understand what "no" means. He is not fully housetrained; after all, he was a stray for the first year of his life. At this time, he can hold his bladder if taken outside every 4-5 hours but he cannot hold it overnight. He can hold his bowels overnight however.
We have noticed that Cooper does not like to be alone. In fact, animal control found him with 2 other non related dogs when he was picked up. Therefore, we think he would do best with someone who works from home that has the time to train him and potentially has another dog to help him become more confident.
Cooper is an excited barker; so when someone comes home, when the garage opens, or when someone comes down or up the stairs unexpectedly - you will definitely be alerted. This may change over time, but we always like to provide our potential adopters with all the information beforehand.
Cooper is going to be an incredible dog and an absolute lovebug for someone who is willing to put in the time, energy and effort it takes to train a dog. They will need to be patient with him as he learns and allow time for his body to fully recover. If you believe you are that someone, please go to our website and fill out an application.
TMM is a non-profit foster based Dalmatian rescue located in Atlanta, GA. Although our rescue is breed focused, we are not a breed restrictive rescue. At The Maddux Movement, we do not adopt out based on the first to apply; rather we have an application window open for about a week (or longer if needed) and will select the best applicant for each dog based on their needs.

Although our rescue is breed focused, we are not a breed restrictive rescue.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (including leptospirosis and canine influenza).
