Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Donut : He was found wandering outside of a donut shop (which is how he got his name) A good Samaritan stopped and got him in, away from traffic. His owners were found. He had been tied up outside for at least a year and the owners wanted nothing to do with him.
Donut is neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines and on HW/flea prevention. Donut is deaf and blind in one eye. He is about 6 years old and weighs 65 pounds.
This boy is an amazing mix of playful and lazy. He sleeps great at night and plays during the day with quite a few naps in between. He would do best at a home with a fenced in backyard. He is a good boy that likes the freedom to roam and explore.
When taking walks, he does best with a harness because he will get excited and try to run up to other people. He doesn’t really show interest in other dogs whether on a walk or at the dog park… he would rather get some belly rubs from his humans! He can be touchy about other animals getting close to his food bowl. Speaking of food, he is a scrounger so he will try to take your food or get into the trash if left alone long enough. He is absolutely food motivated and with the right person that would do great for training.
As he spent most of his earlier life outside and as a stray, it takes him a little while to warm up for cuddles. He is happy being close to you, at your feet or the end of the bed at the end of the night. He loves to play with toys, and chews on whatever toy he is given. He does great with kids, doesn’t jump on them, just does his happy Aussie wiggle butt thing. He is so loyal and loving. He is a fantastic dog!
He was adopted but Donut did not see eye to eye with the cats in the home. He was found to be aggressive towards them so he will absolutely need a cat free home.
If you think Donut would be a good fit for your family, please fill out an application
