Foster Report!:
Hello from Ripley.
When he has space and time to meet a dog one on one his own size unleashed.. no problem.. him and his foster sister are getting along well He walks very well with little to no pulling head high even on garbage day! His head perks up when we walk past house with dogs in the yard but as long as he can't see them he is a good walker. He is friendly friendly friendly!! He is learning his crate training at night and settles nicely after about 10 minutes of whining. He is the same outside.. will whine when you first walk in the house but quiets quickly. He does not bark unless in play or at another dog he visually can see. If you are near him he will quickly lay in the area beside you if he realizes you aren't going for a walk. He loves the dog house in the yard and the fire hydrant. He takes treats nicely though a little exuberantly. He met my 7 year old nephew and wanted to lick him to death but that was about it? He's working on sit but does it much better when his foster sister does it beside him :) Ripley will have to work on his dog on dog interactions and still wants to pull to go and visit with the other dog, with work from his new owners we are sure it is a problem that can be corrected.

Hi there everyone! My name is Ripley, or at least that's what their calling me now. I was picked up as a stray ,they tell me. Not sure exactly what that means but now I am in adoption. All these words are so confusing, but all I know is I am looking for a new family and a second chance. They tell me humans and dogs play different. Did you know that? Apparently, you humans don't like to wrestle and use your mouths to play...you have games like fetch and tug and these really awesome things they call "walks". Maybe you have heard of them?? They are sooooo much fun. I get so excited to go on them. When we go on these walks, they keep pulling me back and telling me to heel and walk nice? Walk nice? Why can't they just hurry up?! There is so much to see and do and they just want to take their time. I am also looking for someone to teach me tricks. They are these fun things that get me cookies. So far, I know sit...pretty good hey? They say there are lots more tricks to learn and I am really smart, so I should learn them fast!. They tell me I will need an owner that has had a dog before, so I cannot pull any fast tricks and someone that can teach me how to be a gentleman. I think my manners are pretty good, but they say compared to some of the others in here, I will need some work. They gave me a list of things to work on as homework, like
* Greeting people with all four paws on the ground (They tell me that it is getting slushy outside and my feet will get muddy and my new owner will not like to be wearing muddy paw prints. I can live with that one, so I will have to find another way to kiss you in your face. )

* Coming when I am called, I know I should really come, but there is just soooo much to smell. I only get to outside for a short while and I really, really don't want to go back inside, but I will try.

* Walking in a straight line without pulling. I think we may have to compromise on this one, there is so much to smell on both the left and the right, I can't choose Please don't make me pick and I will cross my paws and promise to not pull (as much).

If you can help me with my homework, I would really appreciate it. I really was never taught these things and I would sure like to learn them so that we can make a great team. They tell me they have dog school, can you believe it?? A bunch of dogs get together and learn new things? Wow, maybe we can talk about enrolling me I have always wanted to be a student. I do like to be petted and have my ears scratched and enjoy all those other good things and curling up at your feet, I can't figure out why they always get so cold. . I promise to work hard and although I may not show my appreciation and throw some tantrums, it will be worth it when I have mastered all these things and we both have a great scene of accomplishment. So if you would like to meet me, come on down I am staying in pen 10. Make a right when you walk in the doors, about half way down.
See you soon!
