Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Picky is one half of a Chihuahua two-pack that recently came to our rescue. Her owners moved to Texas, where there must be a ban on rescue dogs, because Picky and Princessa were left behind at the Brooklyn outpost of NYCACC.
Picky was not happy about the betrayal, and did not thrive in the shelter setting, but she began to blossom as soon as she and Princessa arrived at our Connecticut rescue. Although these delightful girls are housemates, and have lived their lives together, they are not overly dependent on each other. We have been able to socialize them with other dogs, so they can be adopted together or separately.
Four years old, Picky is a pudgy cutie. She arrived here weighing 10 pounds, but has slimmed to 8 pounds now that her diet is improved. She could lose another pound to be at a normal weight. This adorable girl has a tri-color coat, black and tan with a white splash on her chest. She has a short, stocky build, with the standard Chihuahua apple shaped head, and a million dollar smile!
Picky can seem timid at first, but warms up quickly. Once she connects with her person, she is quite the cuddlebug and loves to give kisses. Picky is well suited to an active adult home, or would thrive with an active senior or recent retiree. She is an energetic, happy girl, who enjoys hanging out at home with her people, or traveling. Picky is well mannered enough to go anywhere. She could easily join a multi-dog home with other small dogs. She has lived easily with a diverse group of foster dogs, ands he is gentle enough to be fine with cats.
Picky is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and has been spayed. She has received routine vaccinations and a negative 4dx test. She has been dewormed, and has been on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
