Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cooper is a 45 pound, Australian Cattledog a.k.a Heeler. He will be turning 2 in June 2022. Cooper did not grow up with the rules and boundaries his breed needs and thrives on. He is plenty young to learn those skills and he very much hoping to find forever humans that ready to help him be his very best self!
About the breed: Australian CattleDogs (heelers) were bred to be tough, independent working dogs, valued for their ability to make decisions while wrangling untamed cattle in the Australian outback. If not provided with what they need, they might create their own idea of "what needs doing" and it may very well be not to your liking!
Though Cooper's breed was created to work a farm, he does not need sheep and cows to be happy! Truthfully, Cooper has never even worked around livestock. Cooper needs his forever people to be committed to setting firm rules and boundaries from the first day they sign the adoption papers. He will thrive best in situations where his humans will spend plenty of time engaged with him in various activities like fetch, frisbee, obedience, or agility. Cooper will want to be included in as many activities as possible and make a great trail, running, and hiking buddy.
Cooper would not be a good fit for a family with kids under 11 years old.
Cooper is:
* Good with other dogs
* Housetrained
* Neutered and microchipped, up to date on Rabies and Parvo/Distemper vaccinations
* Needs time to get to know new people (common for the breed)
